Law of contracts

The Law of Contracts is a fairly broad legal field that aims to ensure the security, predictability and transparency of business life.

Setting the foundations, terms, payment conditions, schedule, and the performance deadlines (just to mention a few of the most important ones) is the base and the guarantee of the security of our business. Unfortunately, numerous business relations end up in court due to the fact that the parties – either out of negligence or out of a formerly friendly and confidential relationship that, at a certain point, deteriorated – have not settled the most important matters of their business dealings. This may later lead to an ever-widening conflict, shattering all its participants from a financial as well as from a personal aspect. Fortunately, the international and the Hungarian laws provide a really broad, almost limitless contractual freedom to the parties in order to avoid such legal disputes. Thus, the parties are free to agree in general or even very specifically in those principles, terms and conditions, based on which they may consider their business life, and their personal interests within, on solid ground, regardless of the inherent risks of the external world and/or a certain personal relationship.

I personally believe that any (business) relationship should be primarily based on mutual trust and respect; thus, I do not tend to consider business contracts as the (first) sign of mistrust or as some kind of unnecessary pragmatism, but I do see them as the written confirmation of the trust and respect that reflects the solemnity and devotion of the parties towards their business.
